You have a floor plan, walls, and doors that swing. You press 0 for camera view and get a worm’s-eye shot—or a clipped void where the house should be. That is a camera problem, not a modelling problem.
This studio note from Thomas McDonald / BlenderZen covers three things in order: real eye height, clip limits so geometry stays visible, then a simple path through the house. Finish the block-in first
Do not animate a walkthrough on a unit-confused model. Keep the house in metres (unit scale 1.0, Length Meters) so camera Z values mean what you think they mean.
Before you place a camera:
- Walls and floors sit on a clear finished-floor reference.
- 2. Door clearances are checked—panels swing open without blocking the route.

- 4. You have not applied Archimesh parameters early if you still need height/width tweaks.

Eye height before anything clever
Standing adult eye height sits around 1.6–1.8 m above finished floor. Common archviz practice lands near 1.75–1.8 m. In this studio the default for a house walk is 1.7 m—easy to remember, close enough to look human-scale, and steady for the whole path.
Setup:
- Add a Camera (or use an Empty as a height marker first).
- 2. In the N-panel Item tab, set Location Z to 1.7 m relative to finished floor.
- 3. Keep that Z constant along the walk so rooms do not “grow” or “shrink” as you move.
Sitting height belongs on furniture-focused stills, not the main walk. Drop the camera only when you deliberately want a seated view of a sofa or desk—then put it back for the walkthrough.
Lens: Start around 35–50 mm equivalent for interiors. That keeps rooms from looking like a wide-angle advert. Use a wider lens only for establishing exteriors, then switch back when you enter the door.

Clipping — when the house vanishes
If walls disappear in camera view but still show in the viewport, check Clip Start and Clip End before you remodel anything.
Select the camera → Object Data Properties (camera icon) → Lens → Clip Start / Clip End.
Clip End too small: far walls vanish; the house looks hollow or empty. Raise Clip End until the farthest wall you need is inside the range.
Clip Start too large: nearby door frames and thresholds get eaten. Lower Clip Start carefully so close geometry stays solid without fighting near-clip artefacts.
Under Viewport Display, enable Limits. Yellow markers in the viewport show the clip range on the camera—use them while you tune the numbers.
Also check the 3D View clip if geometry disappears even outside camera view: View menu / sidebar View panel → Clip Start / End on the viewport itself. Camera clip and view clip are separate; fix the one that matches what you are looking at.

- 2. Shape it through doorways with clearance for frames and open panels. Reuse the house from your Archimesh / Architectural Design block-in, not a random stock scene.
- 3. Parent or constrain the camera with Follow Path (constraint or parenting to the path, depending on your habit).
- 4. Keep the camera upright. Prefer Z-up. If you also use Track To toward a look target, put Follow Path above Track To in the constraint stack so path motion wins the location and the look constraint only aims.
- 5. Animate the path offset with linear interpolation for a steady walking speed. Ease or slow only near focal rooms after the route is clear.
Scrub the timeline in camera view (0). If the camera rolls, check constraint order and lock rotation axes you do not want. If it clips a door jamb, pull the curve sideways—do not fix a bad route with speed ramps.
