How BlenderZen handles visitor data. Questions: tom@plansbytom.com.
Last updated: 26 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data BlenderZen (blenderzen.com) collects, why, and what your rights are. In short: the site runs no analytics and no advertising of its own, and does not set tracking cookies.
Who we are
The data controller is Tom McDonald, trading as BlenderZen, based in Ireland. For any privacy question or request, email tom@plansbytom.com.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on WordPress.com by Automattic. When you visit, the hosting servers record technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request, the referring page and the date and time. This is used to run, secure and troubleshoot the site (legitimate interests). WordPress.com also produces basic, aggregated visit counts for site owners as part of its hosting service. See the Automattic privacy policy.
Cookies
BlenderZen does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and does not run Google Analytics or any ad network. Because no non-essential cookies are set by the site itself, there is no cookie banner.
WordPress.com may set a small number of essential cookies so the site works and stays secure (for example, if you leave a comment). These do not need consent. For more detail, see Automattic’s cookie policy.
Embedded videos
Some pages, such as the tutorials page, embed YouTube videos. When an embedded video loads or you play it, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies and collect data under its own policy. See Google’s privacy policy. You can also watch the videos directly on YouTube instead.
Newsletter
If you subscribed to the BlenderZen newsletter, your first name and email address are held by Mailchimp (Intuit) on the basis of your consent. The newsletter is currently paused. Your details are kept until you unsubscribe (using the link in any email, or by emailing us) or until the list is deleted. Mailchimp may process data in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.
Contacting us
There is no contact form on this site. If you email tom@plansbytom.com, we use your name, email address and message to reply (legitimate interests) and keep the correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry, and for no more than 2 years after our last contact.
Comments
If you leave a comment on a post, WordPress.com stores the name, email address and website you enter, your comment, and your IP address, so comments can be shown and spam can be filtered. Your email address is not published. Comments are kept while the post is online; email us to have yours removed.
Courses, products and other sites
The site links to Udemy (courses), Gumroad (products), YouTube and X. When you buy, enrol or interact there, those platforms process your data under their own privacy policies. We only receive the limited sales or enrolment information those platforms share with creators.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. Email tom@plansbytom.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how your data is handled, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland: www.dataprotection.ie.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
